The 1998-1999 UCLA Bruins entered the season ranked #12 in the AP Poll and would #7 during the season. Steve Lavin's squad was young, starting 2 sophomores and 3 freshman. Led by the backcourt of Baron Davis and Earl Watson the Bruins finished the regular season 22-8 and entered the NCAA Tournament as the #5 seed in the South Region. UCLA would fall to Detroit Mercy, 56-53.
