The name "Kaliganthi" is derived from the form and significance of this neckpiece which is that of an amulet, where the amulet or 'dodi' suggests the individual units and the term Kaliganthi, Kariganthi, Dodi haar means the entire compilation of multiple such amulets strung into a necklace.
Our kaliganthi necklace showcases seven tawiz, or amulet shaped pendants, crafted from gold in filigree detailing, and embellished with uncut diamonds, rubies and pearls.
Typically worn by a Gujarati bride, a version of this necklace was also part of the designers' wedding trousseau.
