The February 1949 edtion of the SPORT Magazine features SPORT's Athlete of the Year Lou Boudreau of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. A sensation at shortstop, Boudreau was an 8-time All-Star and was named the 1948 AL MVP in leading the Indians to the 1948 World Series. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970.

SPORT Magazine, which ran from 1946 to 2000, celebrated what its editors accurately anticipated would be the coming explosion of interest in professional and amateur sport in post-war North America. Read more about the history of SPORT magazine here. (
